WECHAT PAY REVIEW: CUSTOMER REACH AND USAGE

It started to be a simple chat application a few years back, now WeChat (or commonly known as Weixin in Chinese) has grown as a leading platform in the market that connects a significant number of businesses to customers and customers to services across the globe.
The Chinese mobile payment market has prospered very fast, and WeChat is now being considered as a one-stop social messaging platform. Tencent, the owner of the booming social messaging application, developed a mobile payment service called WeChat Pay. Since its commencement in the market last 2013, there are exceeding 300 million users who connected their credit card details to their respective WeChat accounts and have started to enjoy the perks.
Instant Electronic Wallet
As payment has been integrated into the social messaging platform, users can now easily pay their bills through their mobile phones ranging from QR Code Payments, In-App Web-Based Payments, Quick Pay, and even Native In-App Payments. Customers are given the options per payment situation.

This eventually led to the merging of QQ Wallet and WeChat Pay, which made the duo rank second on the list of payment systems in China.
All-in-one Payment Method
What is good about WeChat Pay is the application being user-friendly and easy to use that adds up to a great user experience for shoppers, especially when doing money transfers. It is simple that a user does not need to be directed to external websites just to complete the process.
More than the ease of process, the booming payment app has also a number of promotional discounts and incentives to its customers.
Acceptance of the Chinese Market
Though Alipay is the current number 1 payment system in China (owned by Ant Financial Services Group), WeChat pay is proud to express that with its almost five years of existence in the market, it has managed to achieve at least 33% of the Chinese market.
Indeed, WeChat is advancing the game and is catching up with its close rival, Alipay with at least 39% users.
WeChat Pay Core Functions
WeChat Pay’s core function is to aid users when doing bill payments, money transfers, eCommerce payments, ticket purchases, hotel bookings, product purchases, investment and funds management, and many others. Additionally, consumers can receive discount vouchers from sellers, which they can use and utilize to make the most out of their shopping experience.
The app is available in more than 20 countries like China, India, Japan, Indonesia, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Italy, UK, and the like.

WeChat Pay and Its Benefits
A growing number of Chinese people are traveling outside the country, more and more Chinese buyers purchase items overseas, as well as ease of conversion of foreign currencies to the Chinese yuan — through WeChat Pay, the user can do all of the aforementioned with just a few clicks away.
More than that, WeChat Pay supports major currencies worldwide such as the British Pound, Hong Kong Dollar, US dollar, Japan Yen, Canadian Dollar, Australian Dollar, New Zealand Dollar, South Korean Won, and the Euro.
Now there is nothing to worry about unsupported currencies since the payment can be made through US dollar.
The App Closes the Gap
The one-stop app has made messaging, voice calls, and online shopping possible. It also opened the way for users of all ages. Moreover, WeChat Pay can also be used as a payment preference in physical stores.
Furthermore, the app closes the gap between sellers and buyers. It makes the process smooth and simple. This results in brands seeing the importance of adopting the payment app as a significant part of their business, especially in marketing and customer engagement.
Conclusion
WeChat is into making the life of social media users comfortable and uncomplicated. With the many advancements in the field of technology, businesses are being transformed in a way that they can make the most out of the present market opportunities presented before them. Developments need not be a big-time one, but rather small developments that aid people in their day-to-day lives are what really matters.
In the end, the user experience would greatly matter. Consumers and sellers should remain to be prioritized in order to come up with improvements that would really be meaningful and beneficial to everyone.

HOW DOES WECHAT PAY DIFFERS FROM ITS COMPETITORS?

WeChat is China’s most popular messaging app. With more than 650 million monthly users and close to 40 billion messages being sent across the application every day, It cannot be denied that WeChat plays an integral part in the life of Chinese people.
Let us now take a look at how WeChat and WeChat Pay China revolutionized China’s financial landscape.
In 2011, Tencent released the very first version of WeChat. Its main purpose is to serve as a messaging platform and at the same time as a social media application. Take note that the Chinese government censored Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Google. This gave Tencent the opportunity to take over. Since its release, WeChat gained popularity even to the Chinese officials. It even subsidized WeChat which also meant that the government has access to users information.
In the years that followed, WeChat is no longer a simple messaging platform. Tencent later added WeChat Mini-Programs that can run over 580, 000 applications within the said platform. Using this feature, you can now pay your bills, call for a taxi, find an accommodation, make an appointment with your physician, or even file a police report.
WeChat mobile payment system is powered by WeChat Pay. We must not confuse WeChat Pay vs TenPay since the two are practically the same. In 2013, Tencent decided to integrate TenPay into its current and popular payment system which is WeChat Pay.
Today, the presence of Chinese tourists is one of the major contributors as to why WeChat is being recognized outside of the mainland China. For most of the Chinese people traveling overseas, WeChat is the only way in order to communicate with their relatives. This fact must not be taken for granted as it can cause a great impact on the economy.
Have you ever wondered how is it so?
Take Australia as an example. The country is one of the most popular destinations for Chinese tourists and students. It is one of the markets outside China that is being targeted by WeChat Pay. In 2016, Chinese tourists spent $9.2 billion in Australia using only WeChat’s cross-border payment method and are expected to double sometime in the future.
It is clear that WeChat and WeChat Pay are now making their presence felt to the global market.
Online Payment in China: Wechat pay, credit cards, Alipay, Apple pay, Paypal, and more!
The emergence of eCommerce in mainland China greatly contributed to the growth of online payment method. In fact, more than half of the internet users in China make use of the online payment method. One major contributor to the said rise is due to the fact that WeChat Pay is easy to use and unlike credit cards, many desired tasks can be done using the platform.
In order to use the payment method, you have to link your WeChat account to your bank account. WeChat Pay can be accessed using WeChat application. After the linking process, WeChat will give you two different digital identification card. The black-and-white card is for informal transactions like asking for WiFi connectivity. A colored card is for a more formal business transaction. You just have to present your phone in order to do Quick Pay, Native In-App Payments, QR Code Payments, and In-App Web-Based Payments.
Due to its flexibility, WeChat Pay is without a doubt the leading cashless payment method in China.
Alipay vs WeChat Pay
Since WeChat Pay is the main cashless payment system in China that prides itself with a flexible and reliable system., it can be used to even the simplest of transaction like booking a taxi or buying a movie ticket. On the other hand, Alipay is a standalone payment method similar to Paypal. At the start, it is exclusive to Alibaba and Taobao. It later opened its doors to other businesses due to the growing popularity of WeChat Pay.
Wechat Pay vs Paypal vs Union pay
UnionPay is completely different to WeChat Pay in a way that the former is far more complex than the latter. UnionPay, in particular, focuses on banking and other financial services. Additionally, Union Pay’s parent company China UnionPay is the country’s leading card scheme.
Paypal, on the other hand, has the same principle as Alipay when it comes to payment method. Think of PayPal as a software made for the sole purpose of handling online payment services while supporting many types of business.
Wechat Pay vs Apple Pay
It is worth noting that WeChat Pay works well on almost any device. However, Apple Pay is unique and wants to be different from the rest. For this reason, Apple is requiring you to have an Apple device in order to make use of the payment system.
Conclusion
The emergence of e-commerce in the global market gave rise to a newer and faster way of making transactions. WeChat Pay fittingly found its way in the market scene. Despite the growing number of competitors, WeChat Pay stayed true and committed to its goal.
The popularity that WeChat Pay gained in its own country is certainly not the end. Rest assured, it will continue to spread and influence other culture.

WECHAT MINI-PROGRAMS: A COMPREHENSIVE INTRODUCTION

We use many social media apps every day, but some of those are specific to certain geographical locations, and may only be known among people of those countries. A perfect example is China’s immensely popular WeChat.
You may never have heard of it, but it in China, WeChat is the lifeline of the social media buff.

WHAT IS WECHAT? WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT IN CHINA?

What started as a chat messenger, back in 2011, is now the most popular social media application in China. WeChat gives its users access to so many services – all in the one place – that they don’t ever need to leave. Everything is right there – in WeChat.
Almost one billion users are active on WeChat – every single month. The numbers are growing. Because…..
WeChat is so much more than a communication app. App users can order their food and play games. They can chat and message and make video calls. They can make an appointment with their doctor (or their hairdresser) and read the news. All without leaving WeChat.
We Chat offers Messaging, Official Accounts, Moments, WeChat Pay payment services, City Services, Heat Map, Friend Seek, News Search, WeChat Out. With the addition of WeChat Mini Programs, the list of services is growing daily – and the possibilities are endless.

SO WHAT ARE WECHAT MINI-PROGRAMS?

Our phones are full of forgotten and unused applications, taking up valuable space and wasting resources.
WeChat mini-programs are different.
Launched in January 2017, Mini-Programs provide a platform for service providers to launch their own program, within the WeChat app. No further downloads – or storage space – required.
So, why do YOU need it?
Just imagine the possibilities for product sales and exposure.
App users can search and access each mini-program quickly and easily – using their existing WeChat account. It’s all there, waiting for them.
Think of it like this.
A WeChat user wants to order a burger from McDonalds – but they don’t have a McDonalds app on their phone. They don’t need one. All they have to do is search for the McDonalds Mini-Program – within WeChat. They order – and go back to whatever they were doing.
For the user – it’s perfect. There’s no need to waste storage with an extra app – and there’s no need to exit WeChat
For the provider – it’s ideal. Almost a billion users can access their product – or service – in the simplest possible way – every month. The product reach is enormous.

WHAT ABOUT MINI-PROGRAMS FOR REGULAR USERS?

WeChat Mini-Programs can even be developed for users to keep up with their daily lives. They can reply to comments, manage their account, check analytics, manage group profiles.

FIRST OF ALL, LET’S TALK ABOUT THE BENEFITS OF THE MINI-PROGRAMS:

  1. No more installing multiple applications that users only access occasionally
  2. Save power and resources on your smartphone.
  3. No messy icons needed. Just one app icon on your smartphone (Wechat icon).
  4. Very easy to access – anybody can do it.
  5. You can access every service from your WeChat dashboard – without leaving WeChat.
  6. Product launch is easy. Communicate and introduce e-commerce platforms for users.
  7. With almost a billion WeChat users – currently – the target audience is huge.
  8. Super App is the future.
But nothing is perfect ….(yet)
  1. Push notifications cannot be sent from the Mini-Programs
  2. Mini-Programs cannot be shared on the WeChat timeline
  3. Development of WeChat Mini-Programs is limited to the JavaScript framework developed by Tencent.
  4. Updates must be passed by Tencent before they appear in the mini program.
  5. WeChat mini-programs do not perform on the web-app browser.
Those issues aside, Mini-Program providers are increasing every day – as are the WeChat users.
Who is using Mini-Programs, now?
  1. Hangzhou Plus: This mini-program has been designed completely in the English language – aimed at helping expats make their lives easier in Hangzhou.
  2. McDonald’s Discount Coupons: McDonald’s Mini-Program is already famous among the residents of China, for good discounts while ordering food from this program.
  3. Tencent Surveys: This mini-program allows the user to create and share your surveys with their contact list.
  4. Mobile: A bike share app that works in sync with the actual app perfectly.
  5. Sleepy Sounds: Designed for those who like to listen to soothing sounds like birds or a purring cat while going to sleep.
  6. Bus Time Checker: This most practical Mini-Programs allows the user to scan a QR code and check the timing of the next bus on a bus stop.
  7. China Air Quality: Super simple and very effective, this Mini-Program provides information about the air quality in the user’s area.
  8. Apartment Price Checker: This mini-program allows you to check the expected cost of the apartment you are living in.
  9. Tencent Video: The video app by Tencent is quite heavy. This is the lighter version of the app with most of the features intact.
  10. Photo Filters: The Chinese version of the Prisma app – a light Mini-Program that allows users to play with the photographs in their camera roll.

TO SUM IT ALL UP …

WeChat Mini-Programs are applications within the WeChat ecosystem.
These highly successful programs not only help the users save space, power, and resources on the phone but also help the WeChat Mini-Programs to increase the user time on the main application.
WeChat is the biggest competitor to Facebook, with over a billion monthly users.
With almost limitless potential – and an enormous – and increasing – number of active users, we do hope you are ready to make some serious returns……

DOES SMALL BUSINESS NEED TO HAVE A MOBILE APP?

If you own a business, regardless if it’s a startup or just a small one, you need to get a mobile app. Whether you agree or not, a mobile app is now an integral part of a business. Unfortunately, not all business owners realize the importance of having one. In the following sections, we will discuss the common reasons why small businesses choose to skip building a mobile app, as well as why getting one is a must.
Why Do Most Small Businesses Choose Not to Have a Mobile App?
The main culprit of this decision is the cost. Mobile app development is a multi-stage process. On top of that, each stage requires specialization, which means that business owners might need to hire more than two or more experts who are qualified for certain stages.
Moreover, many of these small business owners believe that building a website is sufficient to attract new customers. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case. According to the 2016 app development survey administered by clutch.co, an independent research firm, from the 352 small businesses in the US, only less than a quarter of them have a mobile app. The survey later revealed that this is because mobile app development needs tons of money, not to mention the time and effort needed to build one.
5 Top Reasons to Build a Mobile App for Small Businesses
1. Reach More Customers and Improve Accessibility
The prime reason why business owners, especially the small ones, are encouraged to get a mobile app is to reach more customers by being more accessible to them. According to a Gallup Survey, more than half of the US smartphone owners check their phone a few times every hour. This implies that you have high chances of getting new customers if you launch a mobile app as compared to relying on website traffic alone.
Furthermore, since the mobile app can be downloaded and stored on the smartphone, customers can easily access your business wherever and whenever they want.
2. Boost Brand Recognition
One of the important stages in mobile development is the creation of a brand logo. Having your brand situated on people’s smartphone will help your brand’s promotion. Considering the number of times that people check their smartphones every hour, your business’ personalized smartphone icon will help build your brand by providing a visual image that people recognize easily.
3. Engage with Customers in Real Time
Mobile apps allow you to connect with your customers and tend to their queries and concerns immediately, which is a crucial step if you aim to foster trust with your customers. Moreover, mobile apps even help you boost repeat visits and deployment of customer loyalty programs, which are essential to building loyalty in today’s crowded marketplace.
4. Collect Your Business Analytics Easily
Most mobile apps nowadays have built-in analytics that will help steer your business to the right path. Unlike years ago when businesses need to hire experts to manipulate complex information and databases, most mobile apps can now collect and process raw data automatically. Hence, you can improvise and make changes fast to better serve your target market. You can even track the number of downloads that your app has garnered so far, as well as track user engagement and actual sales.
5. Partner with Other Services
There’s a new trend recently which involves similar or related companies partnering to form a sort of mobile ad exchange. This is a program that allows local companies to piggyback on each other’s success by displaying mobile ads on the partner networks, thus allowing you to get new customers. This tactic leads to mutual benefits of the companies involved and eventually helps increase profits.
Conclusion
Although developing a mobile app for your business means spending an exuberant amount of money, getting one is proven to speed up your ROI and more. Regardless the size of your business, mobile app is a must-have tool if you want to improve your brand reputation in the market.
In reality, it’s not a question of whether your small business needs a mobile app; the real question is “why didn’t you have one?” There’s a reason why big companies and brands are putting much effort to build their own mobile app. Even the smallest of companies can take advantage of what mobile app has to offer— which is a lot as revealed in this article.

IS THERE A NEW PLAYER CHALLENGING WECHAT’S MINI PROGRAMS?

Is There a New Player Challenging WeChat’s Mini Programs?
Undoubtedly, WeChat became one of the biggest players in the app market garnering about 1 billion users. With the launch of last year’s Mini Programs, WeChat again stayed on top of its game.
But is this going to end sometime soon?
It was recently announced that a collaboration of China’s smartphone manufacturers and some Chinese government bodies are working together to build a similar technology to Mini Programs. While no concrete news has been shown yet, this may be a sign that WeChat is about to experience some tough competition from the new player.
WeChat Mini Programs
For those who don’t know, WeChat Mini Programs are applications (also known as sub-applications) that you can download inside the WeChat system. Mini Programs can be downloaded in the same way that you download regular apps from your Google Play or Apple Store.
The difference between Mini Programs and regular apps is that Mini Programs don’t use up as much data. They are fewer data intensive and still have the same nature as apps. Because of this big difference, many WeChat users switched from the regular app stores to WeChat’s Mini Programs.
The New Player in the Market
Some of the collaborators involved in this new project are Xiaomi Technology Co., Huawei Technologies, Lenovo, Oppo, Vivo, and other Chinese phone manufacturers. The Chinese government body the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is also involved in this project.
From what we know so far, this new technology is known as “Fast Apps,” and it works in a similar fashion to Mini Programs. They are very lightweight apps that are HTML based and do not need any downloading or installation. Once you click on one of these Fast Apps, it’ll launch right away.
A platform similar to that of a Play Store will be created to store all the Fast Apps. The group plans to make this new platform more efficient and faster for its consumers. This is with the goal of enhancing user experience in mind.
In an interview with Reuters, collaborator Xiaomi mentioned that there are already over a hundred Fast Apps ready for use once the platform is launched. There are also Fast App versions of some of China’s existing apps such as travel app Ctrip. Beside each Fast App is an “instant launch” button next to it. This will allow users to launch the app right away without the need for installation, as we’ve already mentioned beforehand.
How Fast Apps Will Work?
Each of the smartphone manufacturers in the alliance will have their own app store where the consumers can download the Fast Apps. For example, Xiaomi will have its own marketplace known as the Mi App Store while the others will also have theirs. This is quite different from the setup of Google Play Store and the Apple App Store— both of which we are more used to. It works pretty much like the Mini Programs of WeChat where you can get access to instant apps.
What Are Some of the Benefits of Fast Apps?
We’ve already mentioned convenience to be one of the main benefits. What are the other benefits that Fast Apps offer? One other main benefit is that consumers won’t have to worry about compatibility issues with their devices. They can just launch the app from their phone’s respective play store and use it. This is also an advantage for developers because developers won’t have to worry about building different versions just to make certain apps work.
What’s Next for WeChat?
Even with a new threat to their already established brand, WeChat won’t be going down without a fight. First, WeChat is able to make the Mini Programs accessible to even Apple device users, which is an issue that may become problematic for Fast Apps in the future.
Other than that, WeChat has also launched a Mini Program known as CityExperience that targets travelers on business trips. This move can potentially battle the Ctrip Fast App.
Conclusion
While Fast Apps offer very attractive features to smartphone users, WeChat still remains at its spot with its Mini Programs and shows no signs of moving. The battle will be about which app store gives the best user experience to the consumers. We will just have to wait and see how Fast Apps can fare in the market against Mini Programs.

SHOULD I CHOOSE A SITE BUILDER OR WORDPRESS FOR MY WEDDING BUSINESS WEBSITE?

Almost every service provided in the wedding industry needs an online presence. Professionals rightly wonder which type of site they should opt for. The most frequent dilemma is deciding between WordPress and other website builders.

SO, YOU ASK: WHICH ONE IS BETTER FOR YOUR WEDDING PROJECT, A SITE BUILDER OR WORDPRESS?

Understanding the way these platforms work can provide you with an answer or at least, help you gain insight into their very nature. Unlike Squarespace or Weebly, which are website builders, WordPress is actually an open-source platform. That means the commercial restrictions are virtually non-existent and your project can be hosted anywhere. That alone can be a reason enough to prevail in its favor.
website-builders-wedding-business

SYSTEMS SUCH AS SQUARESPACE AND WORDPRESS ARE EQUALLY ESTEEMED.

Yet, these content management systems do differ in several aspects.
First of all, being in the wedding industry demands creativity. This is where WordPress features outweigh those of Squarespace or Weebly. Its customizability makes it the most popular platform of this kind in the world because thousands of widgets, themes and plugins work visual miracles.
On the other hand, Squarespace offers fewer themes than WordPress does but quantity and quality in this instance come with strings attached. Unlike WordPress, Squarespace is cloud-based and that means everything is pre-installed and downloaded. Squarespace is generally a lot easier to use, especially for people who do not have any or have very little experience in website building.
website-builders-wedding-business 3
Being a cloud-based platform, Squarespace comes with a massive drawback, though. All updates and installments are done automatically so the moment the system goes down, your project is likely to go down with it. Conversely, WordPress is being continuously maintained and this can save you a lot of time and nerves.

ON TOP OF THAT, WORDPRESS BRINGS THE CREATIVE EXPERIENCE TO THE MAXIMUM.

The themes (so-called “skins”) WordPress employs support a range of website types – publications, blogs, online stores etc. Along with the plugins – tools for social sharing or e-commerce payment systems, WordPress delivers unparalleled customizability and functionality ideal for building an online wedding project.
website-builders-wedding-business 4

SO, IT ALL COMES DOWN TO THE PURPOSE OF YOUR PROJECT.

What is the name of your game? Are you a blogger? Then, the ease of use Squarespace offers could be the right solution.
One thing is irrefutable – Squarespace is characterized by its overall simplicity and usability. But, as with any other business, you want to think ahead and minimize your website’s flaws in the long run. This is exactly why WordPress is a safer bet.
Wedding industry is an ever-growing one. The services you provide need to be presented with a dose of responsibility and professionalism. WordPress is fully-featured and depending on your desired content, the complexity it offers exceeds any other platform.
website-builders-wedding-business 2
The bottom line is that with WordPress, you have the upper hand in the business you are trying to pitch. This top-notch web publishing system exceeds any other on the market by enabling unrivaled performances suitable for any kind of online business and weddings are no exception.
