What kind of USB drives should I need to offer to my wedding client? If you are currently struggling with this situation, then you are on right page.
If you are new to this industry, then let us tell you that earlier we spent lots of hours and days to format films for DVD, design the graphics, menu, burning, exporting, artwork and so on. Seems lots of wastage, right?
Photographers are using the pen drive to deliver their clicked photos. It is easier for them to collect and provide all day pictures on just 4 GB USB thumb drive. But when it comes to wedding videographers they have to deal with many problems, for instance, different types of drive formats, variety of file formats, and file size restrictions. If you are dealing with the same, then you need to follow this guide where we will tell you the step-by-step procedure to deliver wedding films on USB.
DRIVE FORMAT
Drive format is the first thing which you need to keep in your mind. In different forums, you will undoubtedly encounter the question “which type of drive format should I use for wedding films?”
Apparently choosing the drive format is the first step which seems easy but is very difficult to decide the best format. And the reason for this very simple, we don’t know which method is choose by the client to view the film whether they play it on a computer, smart tv, Microsoft Xbox or any other method.
Because of this fair reason we recommend you to use FAT32 file system. But why only FAT32 file system? Here is your answer.
No doubt today’s SmartTV, computer, etc. can play videos almost all types of drive format but as we said above that we don’t know which method is chosen by the client may be he is using his old device so because of this reason FAT32 is recommended.
FAT32 has been around for years, and it supports almost all operating systems and other devices. When you deliver wedding film with FAT32 file system to the client, you don’t have to worry about whether it will play or not.
Now, most of the wedding videographers still not using FAT32 file formatting because of one genuine reason, actually FAT32 file format only allows you to use only 4GB so even if you have 16 GB USB drive still you can use the only 4GB for any one video.
This is very annoying, isn’t? Don’t worry we have the solution for this.
We recommend you to break the video into sections so you can have a decent number of files. Breaking into parts is an excellent idea this way your client can easily pick the moment which he/she want to watch.
Now, what if the client insists on keeping only one video? Well in this situation you can try exFAT file system. The benefit of this file system is, it will not put a limit on you that how large your file can be. But this file system has one drawback again. It is a newer format so you may have faced the compatibility issue. So again you need to move on FAT32.
CONCLUSION
If you want to deliver a better experience to the client then go with FAT32 file system. Above we have mentioned a client type, who may insist you to keep only one video, remember? We have a better solution of this too. You will know it in our next article so stay tuned and come back again to our website to know the master solution of all problems.
